Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967, in Atlanta. Roberts is part of the Robertses' fourth generation who reside in the Atlanta region, beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was an early interest in the theatre. When he was a student of Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. In 1957, the couple quit the air force and Walter began his studies in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. In 1960, the family relocated from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working with Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the local children's Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. They also founded the Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it lasted about six years. They welcomed in 1965 two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
